Andy Warhol has become famous for his images of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Elvis Presley – a new exhibition in Munich allows visitors to get acquainted with Andy Warhol from a completely different perspective.

The Brandhorst Museum shows Warhol’s book projects. „Reading Andy Warhol“ will be on view until January 12th. Until his death, the artist has been working on children’s books, said curator Nina Schleif. „Here, we learn about a totaly new aspect of Warhol’s oeuvre“.

The show presents the artist as the author and designer of children’s books. According to Schleif, the story „Mrs. Cook’s Children“ is shown for the first time in public. The highlight of the exhibition is „Flash“, for this work Warhol has illustrated the live ticker news about the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
