Muntean and Rosenblum

Untitled (You Hear them Talk...)

Markus Muntean was born in 1962 in Graz, Austria, and Adi Rosenblum in the same year in Haifa, Israel. The artist duo was founded in 1992. The couple became internationally known for figurative paintings and drawings of young people standing before post-modern landscapes. Their work has been already shown at the Tate in Britain and at Art Basel. The works of Muntean and Rosenblum include video installations and sculptures as well. Some of their principle artistic themes include the idea of time and the changes it brings, as well as the struggles of our generation and our society. They often combine words and images, and like to provoke their viewers with philosophical statements authored by themselves or excerpted from articles and novels. Through its short text and bright colors, the abstract work "You Hear Them Talk" addresses a dilemma that every person must confront in his or her own way, namely the problem of meaning and its decay within our lifetime.
