Study for Cat Woman

Mel Ramos - one of the first American pop artists - focuses on representations of the female body. In his art works which are geared to the aesthetic of advertising and comic he quite often takes up pin-up subjects to express his critique of the western consumer society. An early focus was on the representation of female superheroes. The large-size drawing "Study for Cat Woman" shows the artists graphic analysis of the overreaching presentation of female appeals.
