The US-American photographer (*1928) born in Paris emigrated in 1939 to New York. There he was influenced by famous photographers like Steichen and Capa. Many years he was a leading member of MAGNUM. His dog photos made him prominent, his early pictures of Marilyn Monroe are famous. The camera helped him, to outdistance the actress and, nevertheless, meet her emotionally. Thus he could approach empathetically her concealed soul behind the bustle. |
