A little more right

Tina Berning, who was born in Braunschweig, Germany, in 1969, examines the human body, its limitations and its relation to beauty in her drawings and watercolors. Bernings figures are beautiful, yet incomplete. The artist uses themes borrowed from the life style industry's glossy magazines, which she contrasts with old, torn and yellowed pieces of paper. In her illustrations, stereotypical depictions are taking on new forms, become fragile and vulnerable, thus manifesting the appearance of her figures and the conception of man behind it only more clearly.
