The painter and draftsman Frank Badur is a master of the quiet art and the subtle nuances. His sensitive attention is less concerned with the phenomena of the subject world than with the phenomenal possibilities of art itself. His drawings seem to have sprung from millimeter paper, his paintings have a special sense for colors and contrasts. If one wanted to fish in the classification of these works in art historical categories, one finds sources of concrete painting or constructivism as well as the influences of color field painting or minimal art.

Frank Badur's choice of color is actually minimal - in many cases, he only uses two colors, which he composes in a painting, putting into tension, weighing against each other. This results in an interaction in which the colors and their weights mutually support each other, influence them, bring them to a tilt - thus releasing phenomena which rely solely on the possibilities of artistic concretion and construction.
