Zilla Leutenegger Biography
From 1973 to 1975, Rafaelov studied journalism and economics at Tel Aviv University. This was followed by an evening study at the Institute of Fine Arts, Bat Jam (Israel). She continued her studies at the Düsseldorf Kunstakademie from 1981 to 1987; In 1986, she became a masterclass. She lives and works in Düsseldorf.
Rafaelov works in two different techniques: on the one hand, she creates location-dependent spatial installations in which she combines graphical and sculptural features with a variety of fine threads; On the other hand, she cuts filigree shadows of paper with motifs of everyday culture. Both techniques combine the reduction to black and white materials and the production of light and shadow.
