For decades, Alex Katz has been a fixture on the international art scene. The works by the American painter and graphic designer can be found in the biggest museums and most important collections of the world. Katz is conspicuous and unmistakable, the artist has always consequently followed his own path. In his works he focuses on his own artistic program that stretches beyond the boundaries of formal aestheticism. There are obviously those clear spaces, the colours and the reduced compositions that make his works distinctive, but there is always something else, a subtle feeling, which runs through all of his works and defines them as an oeuvre.
