Wang Du
"Enter"
Wang Du is a recognized master of manipulation of images that appeal to the mass media. He is an iconoclast who appropriates and deconstructs the images of our society, in particular, he is interested in the pictures that have to do with the logic of creation, consumption and manipulation of information. In his often large-scale sculptures and installations Wang transforms you some of the most spectacular mass media images in irony and absurdity. The artist once said, "I organize my projects, how organize the mass media reality". "Les Modes" about, is a series of five bronze sculptures that represent like oversized crumpled newspaper pages and the five major cultures and languages represent: Arabic, American, Russian, Spanish and Chinese. Wang Du compares everyday gestures such as wrinkling, folding, tearing, throwing newspapers and papers, with sculptural gestures. |
