Baumbild (gross)

Thomas Stimm, born in 1948 in Vienna, lives and works in Ilz (Austria) and Cologne (Germany). He uses a formal articulation that is easy to understand and though in no way superficial. He depicts the shapes of nature very clearly and precisely. His colourful flowers, berries, herbage and trees are plastic art works that seem to be blitheful. It's just the elementary articulation and the seemingly so simple design that create the aesthetical depth of the artistic objects. Not without humor Stimm's art works remind of children's drawings. At the same time the motives are depicted to the point and can be identified at once - even if their colours deviate clearly from reality. This individual work of art ("Baumbild") - painted with brightly coloured varnish on canvas - impresses because of its enormous size and its very decorative character.
