The Fag Show

Sarah Lucas was born in London in 1962, where she studied at various institutions, including the Goldsmith College. Lucas is a member of the infamous group of artists called Young British Artists, with whom she was presented at important exhibitions. The topics she discusses in her provocative objects, installations and photographs, deal with the power of sexual desire and the female position. The work „The Fag Show“ was part of Lucas' exhibition with the same title (March 2000) for which she made sculptures out of cigarettes. Because of the abnormally provocative appearance of her work, Lucas has often been compared to Francis Bacon and Damien Hirst.
