Pfänder

The female artist Neram is renowned for her photographs of landscapes and nature, of humans and animals, mostly being located outside. It is just the transfer of the subject to the inside, into an almost sterile, white interior design that makes this photograph to be an exception in the work of the artist who was born in 1964 and lives in Munich today. It's only by very intense consideration that the beholder can recognize the human hand behind the immaculate sofa which holds the camera. The artist invites to reflect about human presence and absence and about the appropriation of rooms by aestheticising objects. The open window implicates an outside scenery that can only be imagined.
