Lawrence Schiller

Ohne Titel (Color 2 Frame 21)

Art at the swimming pool? This can only be a total flop – or the literal springboard to fame. Then completely unkown, the photographer Lawrence Schiller rose to this challenge in 1962. His project was, despite the high risk, a success and he made it to the top. Lawrence Schiller did naturally not carry out this first big project all by himself. His model was none other than Marilyn Monroe, who was already famous at that point. His project brought the talented young photographer lots of attention and the photos of this series became icons, appreciated not only by art fans. The photos became even more valuable because they are the last images of the star, Marilyn Monroe died shortly after the shot.
