Yayoi Kusama at Whitney Museum and Louis Vuitton

A rendering of the Louis Vuitton pop-up shop in SoHo

New York is in Kusama fever: Only a few days before the opening of the Yayoi Kusama retrospective at Whitney Museum of American Art, also at Louis Vuitton everything is revolving around the japanese polka dot artist. Not only will the Kusama collection be available in all of Vuitton’s 463 boutiques, but LV will also open up a handful of Kusama-only pop-up shops, all designed in polka dots — Kusama’s signature motif.  The first will debut in SoHo, New York, on July 10. Followed by openings in Singapore, two in Tokyo and Hong Kong.
The pop-up outlets will be open for one to two months, offering a range of spotted trench coats, handbags, and other accessories created with the artist for Louis Vuitton.

For those who do not plan a trip to New York at the moment, and who have missed Yayoi Kusama’s retrospective at Tate Modern in London, there is a possibility to enjoy Kusama’s work at the group show DOT.Systems. From Pointillism to Pixelation at Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen (until September 30).
