A colorful hall filled with wrapped furniture, tents and protest signs and a place of pilgrimage for Dada artist Kurt Schwitters- these are the two new works that Swiss artist Thomas Hirschhorn is currently showing in Hannover. The 54 year old has been awarded the Kurt-Schwitters-Prize that is endowed with 25.000 Euros by Lower Saxony's Sparkassen trust.

The work "Under Control" in the Sprengel museums entry hall is reminiscent of this years Swiss Pavillon at the Venice Biennale created by Hirschhorn. Using everyday objects, he creates a world upside down, covered in spiderwebs made of foil and q-tips. "Aesthetics should exclude nobody" Hirschhorn emphasized on Wednesday in Hannover. His works are on view from Sunday until the 15th of January.
