Georg Baselitz

Avignon Dada Strip

"Avignon Dada Strip" is an etching by the great German artist Georg Baselitz. The self-portrait "Avignon Dada Strip", which shows him naked and upside down, is already one of the key figures in his artistic work. The black cross in the middle also plays an important role for Baselitz. He explains "It is invention and declaration. You can not design things like that. I always think of them spontaneously. Not as a style element, but as an aesthetic reaction. An effect that gives meaning to the whole thing ".

This etching is published as a limited edition in an edition of 100 pieces, of which 70 Arabic and 30 Roman numbered by the artist signed on high quality Somerset White Satin paper in the format 105 x 53 cm. The etching itself measures 79 x 30 cm. The estimated market value for the artwork is currently between 3.500.- and 3.900.- euros. The work is also available in high-quality framing upon request.

Georg Baselitz, born in 1938, is one of the leaders of the international art scene and has gained worldwide renown with his paintings, sculptures and his graphics. He was celebrated at the Venice Biennale as well as several times at Documenta in Kassel. His works do not adapt to the mainstream. They corner and want to provoke. Baselitz, who lives and works on the Ammersee, has been awarded numerous prizes, ia. with the "Nobel Prize of the Arts", the Premium Imperiale, the Cologne Fine Art Prize and the Imperial Ring of the City of Goslar.
