The US-American cosmopolite Elliott Erwitt (born in 1928 in Paris) was a leading head of MAGNUM. For him the camera lens created the necessary distance to be able to approach his motives. He is influenced by the photo legends Steichen and Capa which he met in New York. He became famous in particular by his love to dogs, and he dedicated several projects to them. However, his pictures of Marilyn Monroe which are especially intimate and empathetically became an important part in his work. |
