Alex Katz is an art superstar. He is often seen as one of the American artists who paved the way for the new era of Pop Art in the 1950s and 60s. As a painter and graphic artist, Katz is always a little different, a little more unwieldy than his colleagues. While the Pop Art program was proclaimed and followed by others, Alex Katz focused on his art, not on the program. He has always dedicated his heart and interest to beauty, wherever he found it. He also searched for it in his drawings. With light, masterful strokes he creates images that transcend the paper, that do not aim for the perfect image but for the heart of the observer.
