Artsation is delighted to present a unique piece of art, a bicycle in the museum. This important piece symbolises freedom, motion and independence as well as the ability to overcome big distances and ultimately the arrival. In times where thousands of people are desperately on the way to Europe, this arrival is also a goal and challenge for everyone.
The Pinakothek der Moderne offers integration with their project "Vom Ankommen" for refugee people and the people of Munich.
The bicycle is painted by the well known painter and sculptor Stefan Szczensny.
Artsation.com is proud to have initiated and supported this project for tolerance in collaboration with the artist Stefan Szczesny and Urbike.de.

Museum Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich

Proceeds from the sale will be donated to support educational projects of the "Pinakothek der Moderne" which uses art, design and architecture to communicate between arrivals and attendees. Once a week the wide opened cosmos of the museum turns into a creative welcome room. Artists, art mediators and volunteer assistants work hand in hand to form a platform for intercultural and interpersonal encounters. Refugees and people from Munich are invited to participate in programmes in which music, dance and drawing bring people together. Prior knowledge and language abilities are not needed. Families, but also teenagers and adults of all ages are welcome. The "Pinakothek der Moderne" wants to show how important art can be for expressing human creativity, tolerance and openness beyond cultural barriers.
