Asta Caplan - Biography
Born 1982 in Tampere, Finland. She was the child of an artists family and so she was able to early learn some of the various art techniques such as: painting, drawing, printing, pottery and more.

My art wanders and works between drawing, painting and photography and explores the spaces within these diverse disciplines. Working with multiple media – involving oil paintings, watercolors and clay – I attempt to get to the bottom of the human need for beauty: Subjective moments leading to intimacy and intuition.
Inspired by European and Asian painters, I’m driven by an almost aching sense of revealing an aspect I haven’t found yet in other paintings. The miracle I’m trying to perform with my paintings, pushes the boundaries of human memory and seeing. The communication within the images is a secret beyond words or verbal objective expression. I’m only able to make assumptions. With an image, our consciousness becomes “uplifted” in contact with an image that ordinarily is “in repose”. The image is no longer descriptive, instead it is inspirational and solely expressible by paint.
