Ohne Titel (Seidentücher)

Trockel was born in 1952 in Schwerte. She studied at the Cologne Factory Schools and since 1998 she works as a professor at the Art Academy in Dusseldorf. Her work includes paintings, drawings, knitwear, sculptures, video works and installations, and it is difficult to define her art on an iconography or art theory. Before her break-through she got to know artists like Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger and Cindy Sherman who isnpired her to continue her great artistic theme: the role of women. Trockel uses these substances or tissues as a medium for her art, which is associated with women. In this work she describes a cliche in a visual way and uses it to meet the requirements of her thematic concerns.
