Donald Baechler

Salzburg 9

The American Donald Baechler, who was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1956, works equally successfully as a painter and as a sculptor. In his richly colored paintings, he deals systematically, almost obsessively, with themes such as flowers, horses and skulls. These are sometimes in the form of stylized black drawings superimposed on top of a multicolored background, and sometimes dynamically arranged in monochrome groups. Donald Baechler uses a variety of different techniques and materials for its graphics. In this manner, the artist creates intense and extraordinary objects between painting, collage and drawing.
